The soybeans and corn are finally starting to dry down and it's time to get them out of the field. The combine has been running smoothly and many acres have already been cut this year.

The late planting season will make for a late harvest this year. The combine is in the shop getting prepared to bring in the crop later this fall.

The whole family is working on final preparations for the corn maze. Opening weekend is almost here and there is much to do. Trimming trails, placing checkpoints, and painting signs are just a few of the things yet to be done.

Planting has been slow this spring due to the extreme wet weather. Some fields have been replanted because the ground remained too wet and cold for the seeds to germinate. Corn planting is nearly complete with soybeans to follow. The corn maze …

Wet planting season

Corn planting has been very slow so far. Continued wet weather has made conditions in the field too muddy to get very much corn in the ground. We generally plant the corn maze in early to mid June.

Winter on the Farm

Things slow down a little on the farm this time of year. Grain is hauled to market and equipment repairs are made. When the temps get really cold, pond ice hockey is a favorite pass time!
